Following a long multiple bus journey including the coldest and smallest night bus ever, we arrived at Cartagena a beautiful city in North Colombia surrounded by walls to protect it from attacks from the likes of Francis Drake!

From Cartagena we visited a beautiful beach called Playa Blanca. Nothing here to do except admire its beauty and sleep in hammocks. Although beautiful it’s a little shabby on the accommodation front, expensive and extremely hard to leave as you can only go by boat.

Once we had finally managed to get back to the mainland from Playa Blanca we went straight to a lovely quaint little town by the sea called Taganga, very famous for its diving.
From here we got another boat to Tayrona National Park. Once the boat had broken down and we were all soaked we arrived on Cabo San Juan beach. Absolutely beautiful with lots of lovely bays and turquoise sea. On a cloudier afternoon we ran up to the ancient lost city there.
After a very hot night in a tent the following morning we chilled out on the beach and then wondered along the coast visiting the other beaches to stay in another place. We then decided that as the tents were so hot and we were in triple figures of mosquito bites between us we would go back to Taganga for the night! Lovely food in local restaurants and a room with a fan!

We then set off back to Cartagena to get our flight out to Nicaguara tomorrow morning. We have successfully travelled the length of the continent and have loved every mile of it though we only really scrapped the surface as it’s so so huge!
