Finally a relaxing weekend! A 2.5hr drive into the highlands, and some tranquil natural beauty.
First night spent San Marcos la Laguna. Really relaxing place, full of hippies but nonetheless quiet and pleasant! Good swimming off the sacred rocks into the turquoise waters!
We stopped in San Pedro la Laguna for lunch, a little more touristy though with nice views.
Santiago Atitlan was a real haven for the locals and indigenous peoples of the area. Watched a fairground that looked very unsafe, but funny seeing traditional dresses bouncing and swinging around!
Saturday night in Panajachel. Very touristy but a good selection of restaurants and in the morning a great walk to Santa Catarina Palopo with stunning views.
